Stick Of Dynamite Explodes In Woman’s Hand In Philadelphia: Police

A woman was injured when a stick of dynamite exploded in her hand in North Philadelphia on Thursday evening, March 13, authorities said.

The blast happened around 7:08 p.m. on the 2000 block of North Stillman Street, according to police radio clips and 911 reports. Witnesses told authorities the woman had been handling the explosive when it detonated.

The 66-year-old suffered serious injuries to both hands and was rushed by Philadelphia Fire Department medics to Temple University Hospital, where she was placed in stable condition, officials said.

The Philadelphia Police Department’s bomb squad responded to the scene to investigate.
